Audience profile:
90 Students, 30 Teachers govt. officials and Principals from Government and Private Schools attended the felicitation ceremony on 19th December 2007.
Background
This technology carnival is organized by the club every year to encourage schools and students to integrate technology in the school curriculum by expanding and extending their conceptual knowledge.
20 schools and 120 students from Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula participated in this carnival.
Objective of the Event
- To make the students and the teachers realize the importance of technology in the learning process.
- To enable the students to participate in competitions based on the 4 applications of MS office.
- To share the ideas of developing technology supported assignments.
- To encourage the students and schools to integrate technology in the school curriculum by expanding and extending their conceptual knowledge about computers.
The event was conducted on two days, 8th & 19th December 2007 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Hotel Park View, Chandigarh respectively.
8th December 2007
- The registration began at 9:00 am
- The students of JNV welcomed the guests with a welcome song and the Chief Guest Mr. Serai, Director of Satluj Public School and an eminent educationist
of the tricity was welcomed by the core members of the club.
- The welcome address was given by Mr. C. M. Sharma, Principal of JNV Chandigarh and Finance Coordinator of the club.
- Ms. Anu Kumar, Chairperson of the club gave an update on Koshish and the future plans of the club.
- Mr. Serai in his address commended the work done by the club and he motivated the students to do better and make TAL the buzzword in their future.
- The following competitions were conducted:
- Preliminary round of Quiz competition for classes 9th to 12th
- Presentations using MS PowerPoint for classes 8th and 9th
- Creating Advertisements using MS Word for classes 6th and 7th
- Using MS Paint Brush for classes 4th and 5th
- The written round of the quiz competition was also conducted on the same day. Six teams were selected and they competed with each other on the 18th of December 2007 at Stepping Stones Sr. Sec. School.

The Prize Distribution of KOSHISH Educators’ Forum Annual Computer Carnival was held on 19th December 2007 at Hotel Park View, Sector 24, Chandigarh.
- 18 schools with 90 students from the tricity participated in the carnival in this year.
- The students participated in the following competitions: MS Paint Brush, MS Word Advertisement making, MS PowerPoint Presentation and Technological Quiz.
- Ms. Anu Kumar, President, Koshish Club gave a brief update on Intel and Koshish in which she mentioned about technology aided learning (TAL) and number of
teachers trained by Intel till date. She also emphasized on collaboration of Govt. and private sector relationships for better working in the state so that maximum
utilization of the resources can be achieved.
- Mr. Nisheeth Verma (LLF) gave a brief update on Intel in which he mentioned about:
- The Intel Teach program running successfully in 15 States across the country.
- Approx. 7,66,000 teachers were trained since the inception of the program in India
- Approx. 40,000 learners were benefited from Intel Learn program.
- Development of ICT Policy with different states are developed.
- Association with UNESCO for ICT Toolkit Development.
- The way Intel works closely with MHRD.
- Mr. Vinod Bernard also gave with a brief update on Intel Teach and worldwide scenario
in education. He also mentioned about the NASSCOM study of unemployable Graduates in which
only 25% are employable due to the lack of 21st Century Skills.
- Mr. Krishna Mohan, Secretary, Home cum Education, Chandigarh UT gave away the prizes
and encouraged the students and lauded the efforts of Koshish for the sustained attempts to
raise awareness about the use of technology in education. He also spoke to the students about
time management and do more activities other than in their curriculum.
- · He also felicitated four teachers who had participated in Project Based Learning
Contest (PBL). Ms. Meenakshi Jindal from Carmel Convent was the 1st winner, 2nd was
Ms. Arjinder Kaur from Shivalik Public School, 3rd was Mr. Baljeet Singh from St. Soldiers
International Convent, and consolation prize went to Ms. Anita from Stepping Stones Sr. Sec. School.
- Mr. S. K. Setia, DPI, Chandigarh UT was the Guest of Honour. And he has invited the club to conduct same
type of carnival exclusively for the govt schools in January 2008.
- Mr. Ashok Sangwan the Joint Director School Education Haryana and Director UTKARSH society was also invited as the Guest of Honor.
He has asked the club to conduct this type of event in the schools in Haryana.
