Campus Interviews

The campus interviews were conducted for the first time at Andhra University in collaboration with Master Trainer Club, National Educators Network of Visakhapatnam on 9th March 2008 to provide campus placement for the graduating students D. Ed., B. Ed,B. Ed.(Spl.),M.A.(Edn.), students in various colleges of education of Visakhapatnam affiliated to Andhra University. These schools are keen to recruit new teacher trainees who are trained in the integration of technology in education during teacher training itself. 24 schools, 1500 student teachers from more than 30 COE participated.

Objective of the Campus Recruitments is

  • To strengthen the convergence of in-service and pre-service sectors. It builds and strengthens visibility of the program in both these sectors as a trusted advisor to the stakeholders in pre-service and in-service.
  • The event helped not just individual students, but also helps strengthen the campus placement cell of the University, and helps make campus placement a regular feature of the University academic calendar. It is also seen as building school teaching as a profession.
Proceedings:
  • Prof. P Vijaya Prakash, Registrar, Andhra University and dignitaries on the dias began the event by ceremonial lightening of the lamp. He stressed on equity and quality in education. He asked the managements to select the best candidates and to pay desirable salaries to the selected teachers. He applauded Intel ® efforts and commitment towards education and very happy to associate with Intel ®. He highlighted that it is a great opportunity for the graduating teachers and schools, as both are the real beneficiaries of this event. He assured that any school management, directors; principals could give suggestions post campus interviews to any one in the Dept. of Education so that this campus interviews could become regular feature in the university with the support from Intel Teach.
  • Prof. K P Subba Rao, Dean, Faculty of Education explained the importance and objectives of the campus interviews. He highlighted that this is the first time the Master Trainer Club and Dept of Education Andhra University conducting the campus interviews for schoolteachers in private schools, he would be happy to make it a regular event.
  • Mr. Prasanta Kumar Panda, Secretary, MT Club, Visakhapatnam gave an update of the activities of the club. He said that the club has 40 schools with 280 teachers as members. He said that as on today more than 2000 teachers have been trained by the club under Intel ® Teach program, providing free training to teachers on the Intel Teach curriculum.
  • Mrs. K. Radha Chary, Pre-Service Program Mentor, Intel ® Teach Program gave an update about Intel Teach Pre-Service Program activities in Andhra Pradesh. She highlighted the MOU between Intel and Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) integrating Intel Teach curriculum as a textbook in B. Ed. in all Universities across the state. She proposed special thanks to the Registrar, Dean Faculty of Education and Faculty of IASE for their support.
Key Outcomes of the Event
  • The response for the campus interviews was overwhelming. The University authorities, the student teachers, the school principals and representatives were very appreciative of this new initiative.
  • 200 student teachers were selected fro the next round of interviews, thus proving the event as a huge success.
  • Andhra University provided subject experts to one school as requested by the school management.
  • The event positioned Intel as a trusted advisor to Pre-Service and In-Service stakeholders
  • It gives a bigger program perspective to student teachers, who often perceive Intel Teach simply as part of their curriculum.
  • Event was widely covered in Hindu, Indian Express, more than 6 Regional newspapers and 6 popular electronic media before the event and post event two of these with colour photos.
  • It was good visibility for Intel ® Teach, MT Club, Vizag, and Andhra University as in it was widely covered by the media.
