An event was recently held in Chandigarh to showcase the role of Intel ® education program initiatives.

It was hosted by Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19 on 12th of May, 2007. Ms Pritpal Kaur- Consultant SSA, Shri. Chanchal Singh, Astt Director Vocational Education and Dr. Gulzar Singh, Dy Director Adult Education graced the event. The chief guest was Shri S K Setia, Director Public Instructions –DPI (Schools) Chandigarh UT

Ms. Saroj Gupta, the Principal of the host school welcomed the chief guest and other invitees .She elaborated on the role of the school as the venue for imparting training to Master Trainers under Intel ® Teach Program .All were briefed about the Intel ® Teach as well as Intel ® Learn programs.

The chief guest addressed the gathering and applauded the contribution made by Intel ® education program initiatives in Chandigarh UT. He expressed his full support to training of the teachers and laid special emphasis on utilizing time and lab resources during summer vacations.
The use of project based learning with support of technology was showcased by 15 teachers trained under Intel ® Teach Program and 3 staff and 9 learners trained under the Intel Learn Program. Some showcased projects related to social issues were - Problem of Pollution in Chandigarh, Travel to Chandigarh and Let’s think about our Environment.

The chief guest, Shri S K Setia, Director Public Instructions shared that meaningful projects which enlighten the learners and address social problems should be encouraged. He complimented the training program and his observations were that Intel Learn program should work closely with AIE centers (Alternate Innovative Centers) and the content should be developed in Hindi. He suggested sharing of resources and content created as a result of Intel® Trainings in schools of Chandigarh UT through the Department’s official website.

The event motivated the teachers and learners towards greater use of project based learning with support of technology. It enabled the representatives of Chandigarh UT Department of Education to asses the quality of training and its impact on learners.
