Intel Regional Academic Forum

Imagine a computer that would alert you if your elderly parent forgot his medication or one that helped grow the perfect grape for your dinner table. Intel researchers throughout the world are working at universities, in labs, and in the field to create technology to improve every facet of life — from agriculture to manufacturing, microbiology, space exploration and beyond.

Our research delivers innovative new platforms that dramatically improve the way we live, work, and play.

We recognize that the existence and activities of a well-developed research eco-system is an essential component of a highly evolved computing industry.

Intel holds regular forums that enable and facilitate direct interaction between technologists and faculty. This year, to facilitate greater participation from among the faculty of engineering institutions in different regions of India , we are holding the Intel Regional Academic Forum 2007 in two different regions.

 City  Date   Venue  Target audience
Bangalore  21st & 22nd August 2007  The Auditorium, MSRIT College  Researchers from South and West India
Kolkata  24th & 25th August 2007  The Auditorium, WBUT  Researchers from East and North India

The objective of the Intel Regional Academic Forum is to provide:

Insights into the top research challenges that Intel India is focused on and support research programs in Universities in these areas.

  • A forum for renowned faculty in India to speak on their research work.
  • An opportunity for select faculty members to showcase, discuss and get feedback on their research ideas.
  • A tutorial on what constitutes a good research proposal and what are the qualities sought by any research body in a research idea.
  • Provide research grants to the best research proposals through the Intel India Research Council. Every grant is associated with a technical sponsor who works closely with the faculty on the research problem.
  • Provide travel grants to select research scholars to international conferences for publications.

In India , Intel has been spending millions to strengthen the engineering education infrastructure since 1996, through grants of equipment, scholarships, seed funding and a variety of other programs. Intel works with universities in India and worldwide to promote technological progress and ensure the long-term health of the computing industry. Intel supports long-term research in universities worldwide to enable and promote innovation and the advancement of technologies relevant to Intel's future. This helps build and strengthen ties between Intel technologists and university researchers, and leads to mutually beneficial information exchange. It also trains researchers who may become technical leaders at Intel or elsewhere. Besides funding individual university long-term research grants through the Corporate Research Council, Intel also actively participate with funding and mentoring in large consortia such as SRC and MARCO (FCRP).
