This year, 460 Teachers took part in the contest; of which 150 were selected for the emailing round. In the emailing round teachers were sent a short questionnaire, the evaluation of which helped shortlist 65 teachers for the blogging round. The Blogging Round comprised of interactive web-based discussions amongst the shortlisted candidates on a theme given by the evaluation agency. This was found to be an innovative method of communicating, as one of the winners remarked, “ It felt at times that I was screaming out in open space, not realizing that all could hear me….” 31 of the 65 teachers made it to the second last round and were contacted for telephonic interviews. 15 teachers made to the last round which required them to implement a new lesson with students under the observation of the evaluators.
Evaluators spent upto 2 days at times in a school understanding the impact of technology on student learning..!! The final eight emerged after this grinding evaluation. This year for the first time in the Teachers Category the contest was extended to the Teacher Educators of Pre Service institutes.

60 educational institutes submitted entries under the Institutional Category. 31 telephonic interviews were conducted and 14 schools were visited to select the final 4 winners.

Mr. Jayant Murty Director Marketing South Asia Intel® defined winning as: “ Something that makes some substantial difference to anyone” and hence, in his view no body who participated in the contest was a loser. He was thrilled to see the way teachers and educational institutions were open to change as compared to the corporate world, which in comparison according him was quite resistant to change. Since the pressure of learning on students was tremendous, the teachers in his view were responding well to ease that pressure by using technology in the educational environment. He was highly impressed with the intrinsic process laid down for the awards and was amazed at the extent of documentation involved. He said, “It was good that People doing good work were making an effort to write it down”.

Following Mr. Murty’s address the School Winners were awarded. Prior to each announcement Anjali Nichani shared the evaluation team’s feedback about the winner with the audience. Click here for feedback

Ms Anjali Nichani invited Mr. Balasubramanium, Academic Director CBSE to say a few words. Mr. Balasubramanium spoke on Technology and Education -- an analysis of the diffusion. According to him Technology must be diffused within and not introduced from outside the education process. Technology has to be absorbed by the people. At school teachers and Principals have to be effective managers and users of technology. He closed his presentation by asking thought provoking questions to the audience. e.g. the question he had for Intel included points on categorizing core technologies and how technology could be used for humanizing students.
