Synopsis Summary:

The recent up rise of Malaria, Dengue Fever and Fileria has led us to find a solution. The initial idea was to find an eco-friendly method to control the devastating mosquitoes.
Traps were prepared to collect mosquito eggs. We took 5 containers and a card board liner was placed in each. Tap water was filled up to the brim. The traps were tied to the trees in school compound. Eggs were obtained in 3 containers. We collected papaya (carica papaya) leaves, crushed them to make an extract, diluted in water and studied its effect on mosquitoes different stages.
We reared mosquito larval in incubator and sprayed the extract, 5 containers were taken and were filled with the extract in varying concentrations. A candle coated with salt was kept burning to attract the mosquitoes. We studied the mortality rate, percentage hatchability. Control group was also maintained.
The study revealed that the mortality rate of mosquitoes was 86%. The hatchability rate was 60%. The inference was that 5% of test solution is found to be most effective in controlling mosquitoes and larval growth.
The estimation was confirmed by test between the control and experimental groups. Our product being completely bio-natural, easily available and cost effective does not cause any harm to the soil, plants and human beings. It is also environmental friendly, has no biological hazards and rural population can immensely benefit out of it.
