Objective of the workshop:
- Children learn to enjoy mathematics rather than fear it.
- Children learn important mathematics: mathematics is more than formulas and mechanical procedures.
- Children see mathematics as something to talk about, to communicate, to discuss among them, to work together
- Children pose and solve meaningful problems.
- Children use abstractions to perceive relationships, to see structure, to reason out things, to argue the truth or falsity of statements.
- Children understand the basic structure of mathematics: arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Teachers engage every child in class with the conviction that everyone can learn mathematics.
WORKSHOP DETAILS :
Ramjas School, R K Puram under the aegis of the “FUSION” club is organized a workshop. Ms Meera Balachrandran has addressed the audiences & welcomed them.
Lots and lots of activities were held during the workshop which was designed to remove the fear of Math’s in children. Making Square, Circular geo boards,
Card games, number lines and Clinometers were made by the teachers as apart of the workshop. They also verified various theorems and properties using geo
board and paper cutting activities. Illustrations of Brain Gym Exercises excited all of them. The inspiring part of the workshop was using Vedic
Mathematics in calculations
Discussions about Calendar techniques motivated all.
